CD Projekt RED Executives Clarify Cyberpunk 2077 Details
Although Cyberpunk 2077 will be receiving multiplayer modes, the multiplayer development is smaller and just started creating content. The executives at CD Projekt RED claim Cyberpunk 2077 monetization will be consistent with previous titles and will offers gamer value for money. The company is experimenting with different multiplayer ideas and doesn’t have a fully fleshed out mode yet. Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16th, 2020 for Xbox One, PC, Google Stadia and PS4.
“What’s visible on the balance sheet comes mostly from Cyberpunk, single-player and multiplayer, the latter being a smaller project that’s just starting,” said CD Projekt RED Chief Financial Officer Piotr Nielubowicz. “We also have some other things in early development, but as I said, the vast majority of expenses is related to the Cyberpunk universe.” This announcement that the company is working on new titles has us wondering what the company is doing with the Witcher franchise these days and what other projects might diversify their gaming catalog.
“As far as the monetization of multiplayer for Cyberpunk is concerned, we believe right now it’s definitely too early to share any details on that or give guidance; the project is in a relatively early stage,” said CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kiciński. “We check various options and possibilities and it’s definitely not the time to point you to a specific direction on that. Of course you can expect that we won’t change our general policy towards ‘deals with gamers’ so I expect wise monetization and always, value for money.” CD Projekt RED fans are likely breathing a sigh of relief with the announcement that Cyberpunk 2077 will have consistently fair monetization.
