Modern Warfare Gameplay Slowed Down For New Players
During a recent interview, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot confirmed design changes were made to appeal to new players. Infinity Ward wants to try to create a perfect balance where both lower skilled and higher skilled players are having fun and racking up kills. Many gamers have complained about a plethora of campers in Modern Warfare and it seems like the team expected an influx of campers with this title. The weapons and maps in this game were designed with new players in mind as guns are more lethal and people have more nooks to hide in. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
“One of the things we really want to do with the game is we want to get new players into the game. We don’t want them to just get punched in the mouth over and over again until they leave. We want to help the ecosystem and we want a lot of players in the game having fun,” said Joe Cecot. “That’s a big focus for us, it’s a big focus in weapon design, it’s a big focus in level design. Our weapons are a bit more lethal than they were in Black Ops 4. That helps a lower skilled player get a kill when they otherwise wouldn’t. They find success and now there’s a reason to get better and get another kill. Our maps are a little more porous, we want those players to have a safe place to take their time and learn how to turn and move and then shoot, then they can put those pieces together to get a kill.”
When asked if this design change comes at the expense of the hardcore players, Joe Cecot replied: “that’s not the plan, right? We don’t want someone who’s lower skill to have a bad experience and we don’t want someone who’s higher skilled to have a bad experience.” It’s fair to accommodate to all players but Infinity Ward should’ve warned the community ahead of time.
