Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Has Crushed Previous Sales Records

Call of Duty is Back on Top

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has only been out for five days, but that has not stopped it from obliterating sales records. The new and ambitious Call of Duty game is already the highest selling game of 2019. Sales are only expected to increase too. Modern Warfare has sold more copies than any other Call of Duty game on this generation of consoles so far. Activision has announced that it has made over $600 million this week thanks to the success of Modern Warfare. To put things into perspective, last year’s release Black Ops 4 only made $500 million. Modern Warfare is now among some very elite and prestigious company.

It is a very safe assumption that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is going to be the biggest game of 2019. Both in sales and popularity. The marketing team at Infinity Ward and Activision have done great jobs at marketing this game. For the first time in almost 10 years, fans seemed to be very positive and optimistic about a Call of Duty game. Rather than uncertain or suspicious.

Another big change to the series is that Infinity Ward seemed to be genuinely interesting in making a game that long-time fans wanted. This was made abundantly clear during the beta. Fans had some critiques or concerns about the game, and Infinity Ward made the appropriate changes. While this might seem like an obvious thing that a developer would do, unfortunately, fans had very low expectations.

The Call of Duty franchise (and modern games in general) are well known for blowing off fan feedback and going ahead with whatever they originally planned. Regardless if fans were happy about it. However, there has clearly been a change of heart. And it has paid off big time.
