The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners Marches in to VR

When the Saints Go Marching In

The Walking Dead hasn’t had a wonderful run of games. The Telltale games were pretty great; it is considered the flagship series for them. There have also been some mobile TWD games that were also ported to PC and Overkill’s TWD game that never took off. But Skydance Interactive in partnership with Skybound Entertainment is looking to change all that with The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners VR game. Telltale’s game was popular for the story and connection to the characters, and while Saints and Sinners probably will try to emulate that, the new game will also try to focus on interactive gameplay.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners

A cinematic trailer for Saints and Sinners was yesterday, which does not contain any gameplay, but tells its own little story; a story about a backpack and its owner. The trailer starts with life before… you know. A young woman is gifted a cute backpack with a unicorn on it by her mother. After the outbreak starts, the two are forced to flee from their home and drop the backpack. A while later, a firefighter, who was seen earlier in the trailer picks it up when scavenging. He is then attacked by a desperate survivor and she takes the backpack. Some time later, she becomes a walker and is struck down by none other than the young woman who reclaims her unicorn backpack.

Though the trailer is entirely cinematic, you can learn more about the game at vrthewalkingdead.com. From the sounds of things, Skydance Interactive in partnership with Skybound Entertainment is really trying to put the story, action, and choices in the hands of players in this VR experience. The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is slated for a January 23rd, 2020 release.
