The Last of Us 2 Will No Longer Launch in February 2020
Update (12:30 PM EST): Naughty Dog has officially confirmed that The Last of Us 2 has been delayed and will now launch on May 29th, 2020. According to creative director Neil Druckmann, the game got delayed so that Naughty Dog would have more time “to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality.”
Original Story:
The Last of Us Part II has reportedly been delayed from its previously announced release date of February 21st, 2020 and has a new release window in the spring, according to Kotaku.
Kotaku also reports that an official announcement about the delay is expected to be made sometime this week.
If this rumored announcement becomes official then it’ll be pretty surprising. Before finally announcing The Last of Us Part II’s release date, Naughty Dog seemed adamant about not giving a release date or release window for the game (likely to prevent a repeat of Uncharted 4’s multiple public delays). So, when it was announced that the next The Last of Us was launching next February for PS4, the release date seemed final.
Now it appears that PS4 owners will have to wait a few more months to continue Ellie and Joel’s story.
