ProbablyMonsters Will Work on Upcoming AAA Games

Washington-based game company ProbablyMonsters is “a new category of game company for the next generation of gaming” founded and lead by former Bungie CEO, Harold Ryan. The company owns two game development studios, Cauldron Studios and Firewalk Studios, that are both working on original next-gen AAA games.

Both game studios are lead by industry veterans and both projects have already been signed “by a leading publisher.” Cauldron Studios is lead by Dave Matthews, a developer who has over 20 years of management experience in the AAA gaming industry and has been involved in major franchises such as God of War and Myst. Firewalk Studios is headed by former Activision Publishing executive Tony Hsu, who was involved in the launches of major Activision games such as Destiny and Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The game directors of both studios are former Bungie developers, Ryan Ellis (for Firewalk Studios) and CJ Cowan (for Cauldron Studios).

“As we enter a new generation of gaming,” CEO Harold Ryan said in the Wednesday announcement, “the industry needs a better model for building AAA studios where game developers can reliably turn their creative vision and effort into exceptional experiences that delight players. Our mission at ProbablyMonsters is to unite, guide, and empower talented game developers in a stable and predictable business environment that respects people, culture, and creativity.”
