Batista Is Now Available as an Unlockable Character in Gears 5
It hasn’t even been two weeks since Gears 5 was released and we’ve recently learned that it’s already Microsoft’s biggest studio launch of the entire new generation of console. And while there’s no argument that the game is already hugely successful and popular, the latest in the franchise just got a whole lot better. Especially if you’re a fan of former WWE Champion and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista.
This past weekend Dave Bautista AKA Batista was officially added into Gears 5 as an unlockable character in order to use him to demolish the enemy hordes. Batista appears a specialized skin for Marcus Fenix. But it’s not just a simple change in appearance as it’s been suggested the actor/wrestler recorded approximately 700 lines of audio for the game. So how exactly do you unlock his character? In order to earn “The Animal” players must jump into the game between now and October 28th. It’s as easy as pie. Now this obviously isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Batista’s involvement with Gears 5, as earlier this month it was confirmed by way of an announcement trailer and press release. You might be wondering how exactly Batista came to land this sweet gig in the latest Gears of War title, so thankfully Rod Fergusson, the game director, explains it all. “Adding Batista to Gears 5, we started with the fantasy of ‘Batista as Marcus,’ putting Batista into Marcus’ armor, and starting with Marcus’ script. Then we added elements of “The Animal” Batista into his voice performance and onto his look by adding his signature Hollywood shades to his character. Batista was great in the booth and I can’t wait for Gears and Batista fans alike to stomp some Swarm as The Animal.”
