Pretty Please Nintendo
Change.org is a force of embarrassment or evil as often as it’s a force for good. In this case however, maybe it’s a good thing? Fans of the Paper Mario series have started a petition to get Nintendo to remaster Thousand Year Door. This GameCube title has long been a Paper Mario fan favorite, and they want to bring it back!
This all started when YouTuber Arlo started the petition in question, as well as the hashtag #RemasterThousandYearDoor. According to the petition, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door “is beloved by countless Nintendo fans and regarded by many as one of the Gamecube’s finest titles, yet it’s one of the few first party Nintendo games that has yet to see a remaster, remake, or digital re-release through services such as the Virtual Console and Nintendo Switch Online.”
While fans consistently underestimate the effort required in remastering and modernizing older titles, this is one project that could pay off for Nintendo. Not only is Thousand Year Door a fan favorite, but this kind of renewed interest could re-ignite the Paper Mario series as a whole. The world can always use more mario RPGs, after all.
