The Creator of Prince of Persia Wants to Make Another Game

Could We Be Getting Another Prince of Persia?

Jordan Mechner, the creator of Prince of Persia has announced that he would be very much open to making another game. This series heyday was way back in 2003-2005 with the Sands of Time series. From that point onward there have been releases here and there but nothing that was able to captivate audiences like before. The most recent Prince of Persia title that was released was actually just last year in 2018. But keep in mind it was a mobile game. So nothing that the fans of the old series would be satisfied with. This series, along with Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is one of the dormant franchise that fans have been pleading for Ubisoft to resurrect.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

In an interview with GameLab in Barcelona, Mechner said he would like to make another Prince of Persia game.  When asked by a fan in the audience if he would want to add another game to the series Mechner simply replied, “yes”.  Mechner is currently working on publishing a book titled The Making of Prince of Persia. So his love for the series is still quite apparent.

Mechner has talked about this before. Last year when supermodel Chrissy Teigen tweeted about the game, Mechner replied, “we’re doing our best to make it happen.”  The details about who “we” is unclear. If there is a project underworks then they are doing a good job keeping it a secret.

Ubisoft has not forgotten about the series either. The UPlay subscription service comes with the old games from the Sand of Time series. They know that fans still enjoy the games. They were cutting edge at the time of their release, and many say is where Assassins Creed got its inspiration for its free-running mechanic. Hopefully, we get some good news soon.
