Tomorrow’s PlayStation Direct May Re-Reveal a Long Unforgotten Title

PlayStation’s State of Play Set to Remind Fans of a Game Announced Long Ago

Sony is airing PlayStation’s second episode of State of Play tomorrow, and according to a reliable leaker, Square Enix’s ace in the hole might make an appearance.

Final Fantasy VII PlayStation

ZhugeEX, a ResetERA administrator and industry analyst who mainly focuses on the gaming scene in China and informed fans that it would be wise to err on the side of caution regarding the last State of Play episode, claims that tomorrow’s episode will pack a lot more punch on top of the already confirmed MediEval remake news. In a ResetERA thread, he said:

“Last time I said “Don’t expect much”. Well this one will be better than the last for sure. We’ll see updates to Sony games, a new title (as mentioned in the OP) and also the re-reveal of a third party game that was announced long ago.”

The post includes a photo of Square Enix Producer Shinji Hashimoto, who has spent quite a bit of time with the Final Fantasy series over the past decade. Naturally, this is leading a lot of people to believe that tomorrow may be the first time we see the Final Fantasy VII Remake in quite some time.

Of course, there are a few other titles it could be as well – there’s been a handful of titles announced for PS4 that have yet to come to fruition this console generation. Take all of this with a grain of salt too – we won’t officially know anything for sure until the new State of Play airs tomorrow. The video is set to be 10 – 15 minutes long, so they’re gonna have to pack a lot of hype into that timeslot to keep viewers invested after the first VR heavy episode.
