Nioh 2 is Confirmed to be Getting a Closed Alpha This Friday

A Select Few Will be Able to Play Nioh 2 This Weekend

Surprising just about everyone, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have made the announcement that Nioh 2 will be given a closed alpha this weekend on the PS4. The news was broken via the PlayStation Europe Store and its YouTube channel. A trailer was released which detailed that the alpha would launch May 24th and last until June 2nd. Currently, it is difficult to tell if these dates will apply to the rest of the world or just Europe.

The trailer showed off a fairly large amount of gameplay footage. The combat in the game seems similar to the first. However, it possesses a unique style that deviates from the original. It, of course, showed off some of the enemies the player will be fighting along with weapons, armor, etc.

Nioh 2 was first revealed at Playstations E3 exhibit last year. But since the first trailer dropped last summer, news about Nioh 2 has been hard to come by. This is a bizarre move by the developers, but it might pay off. There has been no shortage of games that drop excessive amounts of trailers and press releases in order to hype up their fans only for the game to later disappoint, as it didn’t live up to the hype.

Perhaps the relative media silence was a move to keep building up the excitement and tension?

It would seem that all that matters now is that the alpha is well received by critics and players alike as they will be the ones who ultimately make or break a game.
