Could Judgment Be Coming to Xbox One?
The SEGA studio behind the Yakuza series and the upcoming Western release of Judgment are reportedly “considering” bringing Judgment to the PC and “other formats.”
“I think the hurdles have been lowered by putting [Yakuza] on Steam,” producer Kazuki Hosokawa told IGN Japan when he was asked about Judgment coming to PC. “I think that we were able to increase the player base because people who do not have PS4 can also play the games. At present, [Judgment] has not been decided yet, but it is considered as one of the options. We are in the process of considering the possibilities not only for Steam but also for other formats.”
Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 0 were both announced for the PC during E3 2018 and an unannounced PC version of Yakuza Kiwami 2 was recently rated by the ESRB. There was also a mention of a Yakuza 6 PC port in a 2018 SEGA fiscal report.
With all this in mind, it is pretty clear that this SEGA studio has no problem with making its games available on platforms aside from PS4. However, it sounds unlikely that a Yakuza game is on its way to the Switch.
“I haven’t considered it at this time,” series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi told IGN Japan after being asked about possible Switch ports of Yakuza games.
