Epic Is Adding Respawning via the Fortnite Reboot Van

Revive Van is a Much Better Name

For a while, the whole point of battle royale games was that when ya dead, ya dead. Some games have been experimenting with that notion. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout tried it in Down, but Not Out and then Apex Legends made a huge splash in the BR scene. Apex Legends seems to be doing alright. Whether that is because of or despite their respawning feature is up to the fans. Now, Fortnite has announced their plans to add respawning in their next update. The Fortnite Reboot Van is on the way.

Fortnite Reboot Van

Fortnite’s Battle Bus has become a famous name. Probably because of its playfully ridiculous concept and the alliteration of the name. “Reboot Van” doesn’t quite roll off the tongue like Battle Bus does. The function is what’s important though. The Reboot Van will be a place where players can revive their fallen teammates. When a teammate dies, they drop a Reboot Card, which can be brought to the Reboot Van. When the van activates and begins reconstructing a player, an alarm goes off and a beacon lights. This is basically a call for all other players to come kill them. Revive at your own risk.

The threat of other players aside, don’t expect to see a line up of players waiting to revive their teammates. Once the Reboot Van finishes reviving a team, it goes offline for a little while, unusable for anyone else. It is unclear how many times a van can be used if there is a limit at all. It is also unclear if teammates can be revived more than once. I guess we will see when the update hits next week.
