Breakdown of the New Black Ops 4 Update – Additional Map and Mode

Return to Arsenal with a Sandy New Look

Updates are nice, but new content is even better. Treyarch’s new update for Black Ops 4 gives players quite a bit to work with. Though it appears that PS4 owners are one step ahead of PC and Xbox One players. The newest Black Ops 4 update went live on April 17th. Across all the platforms, the update brought back an older map Arsenal. Since the last time Arsenal was playable, it was hit hard by a sandstorm. Someone call Darude to make this sweet meme complete.

Black Ops 4 Update

Everyone gets the new map Arsenal Sandstorm, but here’s where the differences come in. PS4 owners get a new mode called Deathmatch Domination. This is a mash up of the two modes Team Deathmatch and Domination, and the rules reflect that. Teams can earn points by capturing objective points AND by racking up kills. So even when your teammates just go for sweet heatshots instead of playing the objective, they still contribute. Unfortunately, PC and Xbox One players do not yet have access to this mode. Instead, they get a mode that was exclusive to PS4 until recently. This game type is Infected, which is the classic zombie type in other FPS games.

It wouldn’t be a proper update without the tiny little adjustments made to guns and stuff. The most notable changes appear to be stability improvements for the assault rifles Rampart 17 and KN-17, as well as a startup change to Blackout. Instead of requiring 100 players to start a Blackout match, the game can start with a minimum of 80 players. The full patch notes can be viewed on Treyarch’s Reddit post. This update is live now.
