Secret Morse Code Message in Borderlands 3 Trailer

It’s Easy to Miss in All the Excitement

Happy Probable-Borderlands-3-Announcement Day, everyone! Today, Borderlands developer Gearbox is kicking off their PAX East panel in Boston. Yesterday, they dropped a stylish trailer called Mask of Mayhem for a new Borderlands game, presumably Borderlands 3. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out below. It looks a lot like the the closing credits of Age of Ultron with the marble statue of  all the characters. If you have seen the Borderlands 3 trailer, you were probably too excited to see and decode the hidden message in it.

If you, for some reason, are looking up in the corner of the video, and not at the actual trailer, you might see some blinky lights. These lights appear in the first 10-ish seconds of the trailer and is a Morse code message. It reads • • – • – –    • • • • – -. Just kidding. I have no idea what I just wrote and am sorry if I offended anyone. Someone much more learned than I over at GamesRadar, James Jarvis decoded the message in the trailer. It says “Count the Sirens”. Any Borderlands fan would know that Sirens are an important group of beings in the Borderlands universe.

Lilith, Maya, Commandment Steele, and Angel who were all introduced in the first two games are all Sirens. Handsome Jack said that only six Sirens can exist at a time. Angel and Steele are both super dead, which leaves Maya and Lilith. That means there are probably four more floating around somewhere. Some fans speculate that the Mask of Mayhem name is an allusion to one of the Sirens and that her name might be Mayhem. Keep your eyes peeled for more Gearbox news.
