April’s Free PlayStation Plus Games Announced

April’s Free Games Offer Punishment for Plus Subscribers

PlayStation has revealed the free games that Plus subscribers can grab this April – one futuristic sci-fi, and one totally barbaric.

Starting next week, subscribers will be able to grab Conan Exiles and The Surge. You can check out a bit of gameplay from each of them in the trailer above, or click on each title to check out our reviews of each of them!

Conan Exiles is an online survival game where your character is rescued by the one and only Conan the Barbarian before venturing out into the Exiled Lands (sadly with less Arnold Schwarzenegger, and more endless desert). You can build up an empire and take on hoards of beasts by yourself or with other barbarians as you try to survive. Fun fact: Conan the Barbarian exists within H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos! Conan Creator Robert E. Howard and Lovecraft both wrote for the pulp magazine Weird Tales in the early 30s, and Howard’s “Worms of the Earth” mentions R’lyeh, where the Old One himself slumbers!

The Surge is a sci-fi soulslike where players explore an exhausted Earth equipped with a badass exoskeleton. This seems like pretty solid timing considering a sequel is slated for later this year! It’s received quite a bit of post-launch support, so if you’re a sucker for punishment, this should keep you topped up for quite a while!

There’s still time to pick up March’s free games which include Call of Duty 4: Remastered and Jonathan Blow’s The Witness. Let us know what you think in the comments!
