So when exactly does the first battle pass for Apex Legends drop? It’s available on Tuesday, March 19th. And now that the waiting period has come to an end EA posted on their website that players will be able to earn over 100 items over the coming months and after reaching level 97 players will have enough coins to purchase the next battle pass for Season 2. The battle pass is set to include “a strong base of weapon and character cosmetics to fill out their initial collection at a deep discount.” And that’s a very good thing as EA also stated that they’ll “begin adding more and more innovations each season,” essentially evolving it as they go along.

In the post, Lee Horn, lead product manager with EA, talked a bit about what fans can expect to see from the battle pass, outside of all of the fresh new incoming loot. “Our first Battle Pass is all about letting you continue to learn and experiment with the core Apex Legends experience while earning awesome loot at the same time.” He continued, reiterating that the battle pass is designed for simplicity this first time around, “You’ll notice the first version isn’t built around a complex quest system where you need to do a 720 backflip off of Watchtower Artemis and get two Wingman headshots before hitting the ground. While we think there’s really cool design space in quests and challenges for future Battle Passes, we wanted the initial version to allow our players to just play and learn the game.”

And for anyone worried that this Season 1 content will be the end of new innovations for a while, Horn has a few reassuring words, “As a studio, we’re always striving to innovate like we did with our Ping system, the Jumpmaster, Respawning, and more. We look to do the same with our Battle Pass. Season 1 is just the first version on a long road of improvements, updates and tweaks.”
