Mortal Kombat 11 was revealed late last year with a trailer at the Game Awards. It shows Scorpion and Raiden fighting to hip-hop music. I mean, the series already has a sweet theme song, but I guess after eleven games they can try switching it up. The trailer is extremely brutal; full of face-stabs, protruding bones, dismemberment, and decapitation. Let’s not forget all the blood. It’s quite bloody. Scorpion kills Raiden, Raiden kills Scorpion back, and then Scorpion reappears in his classic costume before Human Torch-ing and killing Raiden again. You can view it here on the IGN YouTube channel. Today, the Mortal Kombat 11 cover art was revealed.
Well, there it is in all its glory. This image was tweeted out by Mortal Kombat series co-creator Ed Boon earlier today. If for some reason you’ve never seen anything Mortal Kombat-related, that’s Scorpion. He says “Get over here”. Scorpion was also featured as the lone character on Mortal Kombat X’s cover art. Another similarity between the two box arts is that they are both rather simple; one character on a one colour backdrop. The image reveals nothing new to speculate about the game, so fans will have to wait another week for more.
On January 17th, Twitch will host developer NetherRealm in a “reveal event”, as described by Game Spot. Hopefully, that event will tide fans over until Mortal Kombat 11’s release, expected to be on April 23rd. Right now, fans can pre-order the game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. By pre-ordering, players will have access to an additional character, Shao Kahn.
