Former Hearthstone Devs Working on New Marvel Game

Hearthstone Developers Draw a New Hand

A handful of former Blizzard staff who worked on Hearthstone have opened up their own studio called Second Dinner and are already hard at work on a game featuring Earth’s mightiest heroes.

No word on which Marvel property the team is working with, though the studio has confirmed financial assistance from Chinese internet company NetEase, who also has helped bring Marvel comics into China following the success of the MCU, even introducing the brand’s “first two official Chinese superheroes” in May last year.

NetEase also manages the licenses for a handful of online games in China including Minecraft, Overwatch, and the upcoming sure-to-be-fan-favorite Diablo Immortal. Second Dinner also has two job openings available right now that claim “We think there’s a huge opportunity to make deep, satisfying games that are optimized for mobile, and we’re currently working on a game that we’re really excited about.”

Between MARVEL Contest of Champions, MARVEL Future Fight, MARVEL Strike Force, Marvel Puzzle Quest, MARVEL Battle Lines, Marvel Pinball, MARVEL Spider-Man Unlimited, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m sure Marvel fans are itching for another mobile Marvel game, likely one that ties all of the aforementioned titles together in the same universe.

In other recent Marvel game news, the Wendy’s restaurant chain has chosen Spider-Man as it’s GOTY, and a new installment in the Ultimate Alliance franchise was announced last month at the Game Awards, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Let us know what you think the new Marvel game from Second Dinner could be in the comments!
