Switch and Xbox One Owners Are Getting Lots of Final Fantasy Love
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age will launch on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One this coming April.
We knew back in September that Square Enix had plans to port these games to other platforms but was only given a vague 2019 release window. Now we know that Final Fantasy X / X-2 will drop on April 16th and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age on April 30th. The Switch and Xbox One are expected to get ports for FF VII and IX (among other titles) sometime in 2019.
The X / X-2 HD Remaster is, er, an HD remaster of the classic PS2 games. It features updated graphics and revised music, as well as making certain content available outside of Japan for the first time. The collection was first released in December 2013 on PS3 and Vita, then later on the PS4 in 2015.
FF XII The Zodiac Age is also an HD remaster of the PS2 original released back in 2006. This version specifically is a port of the expanded Japanese version from 2007 which featured an updated job system. The soundtrack was also remastered with a few more tracks and had improved technical performance.
So far there are no details on price for either game but we don’t expect them to be too different from what they currently are selling for on PS4.
