In the above video, Decant explains that the developer is trying out some ‘light RPG’ mechanics, saying that players will have the ability to “craft guns that have ranks” that will be useful against “enemies that also have ranks.” There’s also a new home base called Prosperity where players can “rally your characters and invest in order to get better upgrades.”
There’s also a new “escalation system” for enemy outposts – after taking on all of the enemies in one, the player can choose to claim the outpost and its resources, or “squeeze” it. “Squeezing” it means that enemies will return to the outpost and refortify their defenses, and then some, offering a new and greater challenge.
Far Cry: New Dawn was announced at The Game Awards last month and is set to drop this coming February 15th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Let us know what you think of the new mechanics in the comments!
