Companions Will Be People and Not NPCs
BioWare has never been lauded as a multiplayer studio, which may change with Anthem’s release. Where Dragon Age is concerned, the very first multiplayer implementation came with Dragon Age: Inquisition. The mode maintained a traditional take on RPG class systems, but few fans found it remarkable. The story may change, no pun intended, with multiplayer’s return in Dragon Age 4.
According to a new job listing, the world builders over at BioWare are looking to expand their team. In this particular case, the studio is seeking a Technical Director for Dragon Age. You can peruse more clues in the official description.
“The franchise Technical Director is the most senior engineering lead on the game team and a key member of the Dragon Age franchise leadership. Ultimately responsible for ensuring that we delight our players, they build and mentor the engineering team, build and execute the game technology plan, and define and direct the development process. They collaborate with central technology groups and other game teams to coordinate technology strategy and achieve the best results for BioWare and EA.”
Of the qualifications necessary for the position is “experience developing multiplayer games.” Every BioWare game since Mass Effect 3 has integrated multiplayer, so it should come as no surprise that we’ll see it again. The listing, however, is practical confirmation of its return. Rumors withstanding, the Edmonton-based studio rebooted Dragon Age 4’s development in 2017, so it will be interesting to see how it varies from its predecessor. You can view more of the job listing over on LinkedIn.
