343 Industries Has No Interest in a Battle Royale Mode for Halo Infinite
Without a doubt Battle Royales have been a huge trend within video games this year and though many developers got on board, bringing the game mode to their already hugely popular titles, like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Battlefield V, it seems 343 Industries feels very differently. Recently, the Halo Infinite devs stated they’re not interested in bringing the game mode to their upcoming title.
During a recent Mixer stream, 343 Industries Jeff Easterling and James Bachici were asked about the Battle Royale game mode for the upcoming Halo game. Though it’s likely not the first time they’ve heard that very same question, Easterling had a reply that shut the idea down completely. “I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re really interested in is Battle Rifle.”
Now to those who have been following news about Halo Infinite, you’ll know this isn’t the first time 343 Industries dismissed the idea of the popular game mode for their upcoming shooter. Earlier this year Easterling all but confirmed that the mode will not be added to the game, nor will any other current trends of the industry. Of course, with many eager to see how a Battle Royale Halo mode would look and with game development always changing, it seems likely that they’ll keep getting asked the same question. With that said, it seems 343 Industries adamantly does not want to include the game mode now or in the future and it seems their stance on the idea isn’t going to change.
Halo Infinite is currently in development for the Xbox One and PC, and though no release window has been announced, there’s plenty of speculation that it will release late next year or even 2020 for a cross-generation release. Up until now both 343 Industries and Microsoft have been pretty tight lipped about the project, offering up limited details of what’s to come, so hopefully we’ll get to hear a little more soon.
