Rainbow Six Siege Newbies Are Competing In Latest Tournament

Rainbow Six Siege Team Is Playing Against the Odds

A bunch of Norway students that have barely played Rainbow Six Siege are competing in DreamHack Winter 2019. And thanks to signup shortages, Minigolfgutta (which means “mini golf boys”) are going to be competing against the game’s veteran teams.

Team member EmilBerglund says that the team regularly competes in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is the invite-only portion of the event. However, Rainbow Six Siege has open qualifiers.

“So we sign up and laugh about it,” he said. “Thinking we’re going to get trashed in the first game anyways.”

“However, today our ‘captain’ got a phone call from one of the people in charge of the tournaments, and apparently there will be no qualifiers because of few teams entering,” he added. “He then told us that we would have to compete in the pro tournament on stage instead. So now we’re 5 boys who have barely played R6S waiting to see if we have to face G2, Liquid or any of the other ten pro teams in the tourney.”

Minigolfgutta were put into Group C, which is less competitive than Group A, Still, the team lost their first match against SSG without getting even one point.

DreamHack is also going to host tournaments outside of Rainbow Six and CS:GO, such as Dragon Ball FighterZ and Super Smash Bros. Melee.
