Capcom’s Classic Resident Evil 2 Costumes Will Be in the Game

Claire and Leon are Back and Back to Back

Just because it’s no longer Halloween doesn’t mean players don’t like to play dress-up. At the beginning of next year, long-time fans of Resident Evil 2 can also experience the game with the original costumes of Leon and Claire.

It will be as if nothing changed, aside from some hyper-advanced graphical improvements and a completely rebuilt storyline. Both Leon and Claire’s costumes as originally seen in 1998’s Resident Evil 2 will be unlockable in the game. Some players who latched on to the original appearances will breathe a small sigh of relief. Sure, it’s just a few aesthetic changes, but you can never beat the classics (allegedly). The best part is that the costumes are available to unlock in-game and not as microtransactions. Capcom even uploaded new footage that shows the classic designs in action.

Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake is being built on an updated version of the RE Engine. The developers revealed more about the design of the game over at San Diego Comic-Con. Their panel explained the updated character designs, as well as how the remake’s narrative differs vastly from the original. And in case you didn’t know, there’s a Collector’s Edition of the remake available for pre-order now. That’s your chance to obtain a statue of Leon.
