Battlefield V Sales are down 63% Under Battlefield 1 In Black Friday Debut

Older Games See a Sales Increase

Dear gamers, it has been a rather long Thanksgiving weekend full of deals. The Black Friday sales skyrocketed the profits of the games industry, as they do every year, and some franchises performed better than others thanks to the deals. The peculiarity of this case is that Battlefield V may have performed below expectations.

From the UK Charts, we learn that Black Friday deals earned less many than the sales last year: revenue was down 4,6% and unit sales fell by 6.7. As pointed out by Gamesindustry.biz, however, the charts don’t account for digital sales. For all we know, the online marketplace saw a major year-on-year increase or decrease in profits. Performance-wise, FIFA 19 earned the top sales spot after witnessing a price cut – the PS4 bundle probably boosted its sales.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, too, saw a major comeback with a 360% upsurge of copies shifted, placing it at no.2. The combination of software discounts left Red Dead Redemption 2 in the no.3 spot for Black Friday week. Following, Battlefield V debuted at no.4 on the UK charts. The AAA first-person shooter hit the shelves, retail priced, during the busiest week of game sales. Thus, it’s no wonder the game saw more than a 63% sales decrease compared to its predecessor, Battlefield 1. Of course, there may be other factors to consider, but that’s all conjecture.

Other notable details about the top 10 games of Black Friday week, Spyro fell from the no.1 spot to no.9. Fallout 76, meanwhile, saw a 51% drop in sales week-on-week. Evidently, its 33% discount had a negligible effect on performance and couldn’t overcome reviews.
