Silent Hills Collaborator Is Taking on Frankenstein
Legendary horror manga artist Junji Ito, who was working on the canceled Silent Hills with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro, is releasing a 400-page hardcover project called Frankenstein: Junji Ito Story Collection. The collection is set to release on October 16, 2018.
The anthology is being published by Viz and includes an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s horror classic as well as short stories about other creatures like blob people and phantasms.
Ito is known in Japan for his twisted artwork and distinct horror stories. He was behind series’ like Gyo, which was about Okinawa getting attacked by mutant killer fish that survived World War II, as well as Uzumaki, a town where residents are cursed by a spiral obsession.

It’s unclear exactly how involved Ito was in Silent Hills prior to its cancellation. But from the looks of it, his contributions to the project were probably in the early stages.
“I’m not well-versed when it comes to video games, and I wasn’t very confident on whether I’d be able to contribute much for such a big title as Silent Hill, but Hideo Kojima and del Toro have nothing but my gratitude for having called me [for this project],” he tweeted.
