Insomniac Discusses the Future of the Spider-Man Series, Keeping Players Engaged in the Universe

What Does the Future Hold for Marvel’s Spider-Man?

Spider-Man launched just over a week ago and man has it ever received massive support from the gaming community. With amazing sales and fantastic reviews, the newest Marvel universe title is taking the world by storm. Bryan Intihar, the creative director for Insomniac Games, recently talked about the future of the series in a new interview, stating that the studio wants to keep players invested and engaged in the game.

In a new interview with IGN, Bryan Intihar, the creative director of Spider-Man aka the biggest game of 2018, discussed what the future holds for the series. While he didn’t exactly confirm that a sequel was in the works, he did state that the development team wants players to have lingering questions about what’s to come. “We wanted to have questions people may talk about and debate what the future could hold.”

But it’s not just having lingering questions that will keep the fan base interested in Spider-Man, and Insomniac has every intention of actively keeping players engaged in the universe. Here’s what Intihar had to say, “Nothing to announce [regarding a sequel] but we obviously want to keep you engaged in our Spider-Man universe. That’s why we said right off the bat you’re going to have three drops of DLC. It’s not just activities in the city, this is a full story. You’re going to be able to get a pretty chunky, new experience.” He also talked about what players should expect from the first DLC that is focused on Black Cat, “You’re going to see some twists and turns you might not expect with Spider-Man and Black Cat. And then that will set up the other two that will be released before the end of the year.”

Insomniac's Spider-Man

In addition to these DLC, Insomniac recently confirmed a New Game Plus mode for Spider-Man was in the works and at the time it sounded like it was close to being finished. Now Intihar may have just provided even more information about it, “It’s not done yet but we’re working on it…The next thing up is New Game Plus.” As the first DLC, The Heist, is set to drop on October 23rd, it seems likely we’ll see New Game Plus within the next month, before the DLC drops! Fingers crossed anyway.
