The update post also mentioned that Shenmue series creator and Shenmue 3 director, Yu Suzuki won’t be attending Gamescom but provided no reason or explanation as to why.

The new Shenmue 3 trailer or video is going to by livestreamed (along with other non-related events) on the official Gamescom website. The livestream is scheduled for the times of 11 AM CEST to 1 PM CEST (which is 5 AM EDT to 7 AM EDT), according to the update post.

This sudden announcement comes as Shenmue I & II, the re-released collection of the first two Shenmue games, is set to launch on Tuesday. Details about this upcoming re-release can be read here.

It is currently unknown whether or not extensive Shenmue 3 gameplay will be shown at this year’s Gamescom. So far, the developers have only officially released a screenshot of what appears to be gameplay and almost all the trailers shown for the game in the past have only provided brief glimpses of gameplay or cutscenes.
