Necrons Are Preparing to Reclaim Kronus in Dawn of War IV
Deep Silver and KING Art Games have released the third of four in-game CGI narrative trailers for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, this time putting the spotlight on the long-awaited return of the Necrons. The latest cinematic reveals the ancient mechanical race awakening from a 60-million-year slumber to reclaim the tomb world of Kronus.
The Necrons, who sacrificed their mortal bodies and souls in exchange for immortal mechanical forms, return to a planet they once ruled. The trailer follows Thothmek, a powerful Chronomancer of the Szerkhan Dynasty, as he watches the brutal conflict on Kronus from orbit. While Space Marines and Orks continue their endless war across the planet, Thothmek views them as invaders occupying a world that rightfully belongs to the Necrons.
As the cinematic unfolds, Thothmek reflects on how the dynasty’s sacred tombs were desecrated during the Necrons’ long slumber. He then awakens the dynasty’s dormant forces, summoning endless ranks of Necron Warriors alongside towering Triarch Stalkers, swarms of Canoptek Scarabs, and elite Lych Guards. The trailer ends with the reveal of a massive Necron fleet assembling above Kronus, ready to purge every rival faction from the planet.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV launches on September 17, 2026, while Commander Edition owners can begin playing three days early on September 14. Both editions are currently available for pre-order with a 10% discount.
Beyond launch, the developers plan to support the game with free Year One updates, including the return of Crusade Mode, new maps, game modes, Commanders, a Mission Editor, and two major story expansions that will expand the conflict on Kronus while introducing a new playable faction.
With one faction reveal still to come, anticipation for Dawn of War IV continues to grow as the battle for Kronus draws closer.
