New Sekiro Vid Shows off Stealth and That Grappling Arm Goodness

A Vertical Slice of the Souls Successor

Gamescom has blessed us this week with a series of new release dates, reveals, and gameplay. Among them, we have a new video from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the new action game from Dark Souls developer From Software. For fans who’ve been waiting for an extensive look at gameplay, look no further.

Apparent from the reveal, Sekiro innovates off Souls games while maintaining that grimdark aesthetic. The new Gamescom footage highlights its differences, particularly the IP’s focus on stealth and grappling. Unlike past games from director Miyazaki, the world is a little more vertical and the player is a bit more mobile, thanks to the prosthetic arm. Speaking of which, the arm serves as the most unique tool, one that grants a host of abilities we glimpse on this trailer. In addition to some stealth kills, the footage provides a better look at the dueling mechanic– Deflections and executions are a heavy focus in combat. Last but not least, we get to see the player character die more than twice.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is due for release on March 22nd, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Big FromSoftware fans can discover the collector’s edition that was revealed the other day. Buyers beware, however, as the developer claimed it will be harder than its previous games (which were incredibly hard, to begin with). Stay tuned for additional news on the IP as time goes by.
