Looks Like ‘We Happy Few’ Is Coming Out in Australia After All
Back in May, it seemed like the dystopian survival game We Happy Few wasn’t going to launch in Australia after getting denied classification by the country’s ratings board. However, on Tuesday, the board reversed course and unanimously decided to give the game an “R 18+” rating.
The rating also came with a blurb to inform consumers about the game’s “‘Fantasy violence and interactive drug use”. The game’s rating means that anyone under the age of 18 won’t be allowed to purchase it.
According to a press release, this rating decision was made in response to a request made by the game’s publisher, Gearbox Publishing, to review the board’s previous decision of refusing to give the game a rating.

“I know that We Happy Few has been on the Early Access rollercoaster for almost two years now, but it really looks like the game being released this summer will be a very different animal than the one we were first introduced to,” wrote the preview’s author. “Even if you’ve dabbled in the game prior to the full release, it will be worth your time to take a second look.”
We Happy Few is scheduled to come out on August 10th for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
