The Great Hunt Comes to Final Fantasy XIV Next Month
After Capcom announced a release date for the upcoming Monster Hunter World portion of the collaborative event, Square Enix has finally done the same for the Rathalos’ visit to Final Fantasy XIV.
Starting on August 7th, Warriors of Light who have finished the Stormblood questline and reached level 70 will be able to take on Monster Hunter’s King of the Skies in a Trial called “The Great Hunt.” It will come in a Normal version in which 8 players team up against the Rathalos, and an Extreme version with only 4 players. Square also promises “numerous unique mechanics included as a homage to Monster Hunter World and its gameplay.”
Players who participate in the event will have an opportunity to snag some special rewards including a Rathalos inspired armor set, two new minions in the form of the Palico and everyone’s favorite adorable pig, Poogie, as well as a Rathalos mount and a BBQ Spit furnishing item.
In the same press release, producer and director Naoki Yoshida teases content coming to FFXIV in Patch 4.4 such as new main storyline quests, two new side quests called The Four Lords and Even Further Hildibrand Adventures, two new dungeons named The Burn and Saint Mociannes Arboretum, a new trialed called Suzaka, and a new Raid named Omega: Alphascape, as well as updates to a handful of mechanics.
