Sony Might Address ‘Fortnite’ PS4 Crossplay Demands

It Sounds Like Sony Is Working On a Solution

Sony has been given a lot of flak recently due to how poorly they’ve been handling the lack of crossplay for the PS4 version of Fortnite so the company is reportedly working on a solution to the problem.

“We’re hearing it. We’re looking at a lot of the possibilities,” said Shawn Layden, the CEO & president of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, to Eurogamer. “You can imagine that the circumstances around that affect a lot more than just one game. I’m confident we’ll get to a solution which will be understood and accepted by our gaming community, while at the same time supporting our business.”

Many gamers criticized the vague statement that Sony initially issued in response to the crossplay criticism surrounding the PS4 version of Fortnite and a former CEO of Sony Online Entertainment described Sony’s business logic regarding crossplay on competing consoles as “dumb”.

Sony’s console competitors, Nintendo and Xbox, have recently used this to their advantage by emphasizing how Minecraft players on the Switch & Xbox One can play together despite playing on two different platforms.
