Nintendo Incentivizes Online Play in Mario Tennis Aces
Mario Tennis Aces has been serving up success for the Switch, and Nintendo plans to give players more characters to hit the court with this fall.
In the above trailer released earlier today, Nintendo announced that Diddy Kong, Koopa-Paratrooper, and Birdo are all making their way to Mario Tennis Aces later this year. Nintendo is also trying to get players online and participating in online tournaments by allowing you to unlock new characters earlier, much like Koopa Troopa and Blooper who can be unlocked early by taking part in July or August’s tournaments, or wait until they’re available for everyone.
It’s clear that Nintendo is trying to get everyone actively involved in the online portion of their games in an effort to keep up those Nintendo Switch Online paid subscription numbers when it launches this September. Once it goes live, Mario Tennis Aces players – and players of other online Switch games – will need to subscribe to the service which will run for $19.99 USD per year.
