Hitman 2 Officially Announced; Coming In November

Everyone’s Favorite Bald Assassin Is Back!

Hitman 2 was officially announced on Thursday during an official stream that was hosted by WB Games. It’s coming out on November 13th and will drop the episodic model that the previous Hitman game used. Instead, Hitman 2 will launch as a full game.

The story of Hitman 2 continues where the previous game left off, per the game’s official description on Steam:

Travel the globe and track your targets across exotic sandbox locations in HITMAN 2. From sun-drenched streets to dark and dangerous rainforests, nowhere is safe from the world’s most creative assassin, Agent 47.

Prepare to experience the ultimate spy thriller story; your mission is to eliminate the elusive Shadow Client and unravel his militia, but when 47 learns his target’s true identity and the truth about his past, it changes everything.

In 2016’s Hitman, the Shadow Client was eventually revealed to be the mastermind behind several of its story events and he seems to be the main antagonist of the sequel.

Hitman 2’s existence was leaked earlier this week and yesterday we ran an article that correctly reported on a race track mission that’ll be in the game.

According to Hitman 2 developer IO Interactive, the race track level is one of the six levels of the game and will take place in sunny Miami, Florida. The two targets of the mission are Sierra Knox & her father Robert Knox, both of whom are part of an “evil tech company”.

The sequel will have some new stealth mechanics such as being able to hide in foliage and crowds of people. Also, Agent 47’s signature briefcase (which many Hitman fans requested to be included in the previous game) will return.

“There’s a new depth to our stealth mechanics in the game,” said an IO Interactive developer during an interview with IGN. The developer also said that new weapon items will be featured in the upcoming game such as concussion grenades and fish (yes, that’s right fish).

Live content such as the previous game’s Elusive Targets will return and will be “deeper”, said another IO developer to IGN.

The developers also mentioned that if Hitman 2 is pre-ordered then an online co-op mode (that’s somewhat similar to the Hitman Sniper Challenge game that came out for 2012’s Hitman: Absolution) will become available.

Titled “Hitman: Sniper Assassin”, the co-op mode will feature two new playable characters named Stone and Knight. However, when playing solo you’ll only be able to play as Agent 47. IO developer Sven Liebold confirmed that this was a new mode and not a regular Hitman level.

Hitman 2 is scheduled to come out on November 13th for the PC, PS4 & Xbox One.
