Detroit: Become Human Debuts With Strong Numbers
Over a month has passed and, despite new releases, PS4 exclusive God of War managed to retain its no.1 spot on the UK Charts. Month-on-month, the game’s sales numbers have only dropped 55%.
Back on May 4th, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze entered the charts at no.2. It has dropped off and since re-entered at no.2. Sales for the Nintendo Switch were up 19% compared to Wii U sales. Contrarily, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition debuted at no.20, compared to the Wii U version that debuted at no.17 —Sales were down 54%. Thanks to the top Switch sellers like Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, however, Nintendo sales have outperformed Xbox. They’re near neck and neck with Sony, as a matter of fact.
But Sony remained the top publisher for the month. It’s second major exclusive of the year, Detroit: Become Human, debuted as the 5th best-selling title, despite only two days on the chart by the week’s end. Meanwhile, State of Decay 2, which released on May 22nd, debuted at no.6. Beating them out are some of the usual third-party suspects – FIFA 18 and Far Cry 5 continue to earn top sales, months later. Below, you will find the top 10 games for May 2018.
- God of War
- FIFA 18
- Far Cry 5
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
- Detroit: Become Human
- State of Decay 2
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Fallout 4
- Lego Marvel Superheroes 2
- Dark Souls Remastered
At the edge of the top 10, we have Dark Souls Remastered. Released on May 25th, the installment didn’t sell as well as Dark Souls 3’s first month of sales. Part of this may be attributed to the fact that the Nintendo Switch version was delayed. But what are your thoughts on the list? Are you surprised God of War retained the no.1 spot?
