Consider Me Intrigued
The Forza Horizon series is known for some fun/stupid side missions, pleasant distractions from the regular racing you otherwise engage in. Forza Horizon 4 will be no exception, with this installment apparently including a Crazy Taxi mode. If you were missing that franchise, this will be a great way to relive your glorious digital cabbie days.
According to art director Benjamin Penrose, one of the new activities will involve getting people places as fast as your wheels can ferry them about. Penrose spoke about a new feature called Horizon Stories, “cool little bite-sized pieces of narrative-based gameplay that will center around certain activities” such as owning businesses and interacting with the right people. Businesses like a taxi service, perhaps?
Penrose went on to explain that one of these businesses is indeed a taxi company. On top of that, there will be “narratives that are associated with other racing games, and one of those is based on Crazy Taxi.” There you have it. After years of either not playing Crazy Taxi or settling for an inferior imitation, perhaps this will finally be your shot to play a decent homage to the long-forgotten franchise. If nothing else, the little I’ve played of Horizon 4 suggests that the overall game will be fun as heck.
