Fable 4 Footage Leak Is Definitely Fake

Although the studio behind Fable shut down, Microsoft has showed interest in finding a suitable brand to carry the torch. Now ,it looks like some people are talking about “leaked” Fable 4 footage, but unfortunately it looks like it’s completely fake.

The rumor started on 4Chan, which is a big enough red flag, when someone posted GIFs showing the “leaked” Fable 4 footage. But it turns out that the GIFs from the original thread were from the video above, which was created by Douglas Davis with the following caption:

“This is a walkthrough of an environment I’ve been working on using Unreal Engine 4. For this project I focused on improving my skills at working with foliage and landscapes, and learned how to use some new software along the way.”

And character wasn’t actually created by Davis — it’s a “Stylized Paladin Character” that can be found on the Unreal Engine 4 Marketplace.

While this is disappointing news for hopeful fans, there is definitely interest in a new Fable that will probably be for the Xbox One if it ever sees the light of day. Rumors are pointing to PlayGround Studios as the developer, although nothing is set in stone.

And even though Peter Molyneux isn’t actively involved in the Fable franchise anymore, he spoke on Fable 4 in an IGN interview.

In regards to combat, he said he’d “love to see brutal, visceral and fluid combat system that left permanent scars. Weapons like short swords, long swords, daggers, spears, long bows and crossbows all having a there own combat feel and specialties.” He also thinks the magic system should be overhauled to give players the “ability to ‘craft’ your own unique system.”

Molyneux also showed interest in a creature bestiary “with hordes of small creatures,” as well as rideable dragons and “god-sized giants.”
