Ubisoft Reveals Their Game Pipeline for the Financial Year
In their financial conference call pertaining to the 2017-2018 financial year, Ubisoft CFO Alan Martinez revealed a few details about the company’s upcoming slate of games. Alongside The Division 2 and The Crew 2, another unannounced AAA title will be published during this fiscal year.
The current fiscal year ends on March 31st, 2019, which means the French company will launch three top-tier titles in the next nine months. The Crew 2, we know, will launch on June 29th of this year. That leaves The Division 2 and the unknown IP to launch somewhere in the window of Fall, Winter, or Spring. Perhaps, at E3 2018, we’ll receive a solid release window or date for The Division 2. Either way, there will be more details. The same is true of the unannounced title, Martinez revealed.
Interestingly, Ubisoft expects to sell 19 million copies of The Division 2, The Crew 2, and their mysterious title. Last year, they sold a total of 23 million copies between four released AAA titles. Thus, it may be safe to assume that the third title comes from an established franchise. Afterward, between 2019 and 2020, the publisher will launch their highly anticipated Skull and Bones.
Another interesting tidbit: it seems The Division 2 may launch around the same time as BioWare’s Anthem. This is especially significant since both games will be, essentially, live services striving to retain active online communities. Revealed earlier this month, Anthem will release in March 2019, which places it within the financial year. If Ubisoft and EA intend to release their IPs before the fiscal year is up while giving their studios workable development timetables, March 2019 would be the ideal month. Time will tell.
