Dark Souls Remastered Launches Early On PC & This Infamous Hacker Is Corrupting Save Files

A Notorious Hacker Is Going Around Getting Players ‘Softbanned’ from Dark Souls: Remastered

If you’re a Dark Souls player then you should be warned about an infamous Dark Souls hacker known as “Malcolm Reynolds”. He’s “softbanning” players while fighting them in the online PvP mode in Dark Souls: Remastered, the recently released (on Steam) remaster of the first Dark Souls game.

Reynolds is reportedly using modified magic that transfers a large amount of souls to the players who are hit by it. This causes the game’s anti-cheating software to detect that player as a cheater and “softban” them by corrupting the save data on their save file.

The best way to deal with Dark Souls hackers like Reynolds is to regularly back up your save files. You can also have your player character commit in-game suicide in order to avoid encountering Reynolds when he enters your game or even quickly quit the game by using Alt & F4.

Dark Souls: Remastered has launched a day early on Steam but will release tomorrow for the PS4 and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch release was delayed to this summer.
