Crackdown 3 Just Has to Be “Good” to Drive Console Sales, Says Analyst

Microsoft Has to Deliver on Its Cloud-Based Promise

Crackdown 3 may be the most anticipated game for the Xbox One ever, if for no other reason than the fact that fans have anticipated it for multiple E3s. The game was announced back in 2014; since then, we’ve been patiently waiting for the cloud-based marvel to make its debut. These days, Microsoft desperately needs it, and Michael Pachter, an analyst for Wedbush Securities, believes it could sell really well.

Crackdown 3 E3

Crackdown 3 provides an alternative beast to the staple franchises of Microsoft (Halo, Gears of War, etc), and it might be big enough and different enough to finally shift consoles. Pachter seems convinced that the game only has to be worthwhile to make players drop cash on a new piece of hardware. He said as much in a recent interview with GamingBolt.

Crackdown is an amazing series, and if Crackdown 3 is good, it’s going to drive console sales,” Pachter said. “That is really a good franchise. But again, it’s not for everyone- super hard. But it’s a great game experience, and I think it will do well. I think it and [State of Decay] are the things I am looking forward to most on Xbox… I’m a fan of Halo and Gearsbut Gears 5 and Halo 6? Okay… I’d much rather play Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2.”

So far as we know, Crackdown 3 is being built as an innovative multiplayer experience. For all we know, it really may be the next best game to play with friends. Even if it doesn’t reach a 90s rating on Metacritic—if Microsoft delivers on its promises, the game can do very well. Time will tell, but hopefully not too much time, considering all the delays.
