New York’s Favorite Webhead Swings into the Current Gen!
The release date for Insomniac’s upcoming Spider-Man game has been revealed: September 7th! The PS4 exclusive focuses on an adult Peter Parker fighting criminals in New York City. You can view the official announcement trailer below!
The game is an open-world superhero adventure and Insomniac Games has already confirmed that it won’t ever make its way over to the Xbox One. Spider-Man was first revealed at E3 2016 and a short demo was shown at E3 2017.
The game’s premise focuses on Peter Parker fighting well-known Marvel villains such as the Kingpin and Mister Negative. He also battles Mister Negative’s gang (which are known as the “Inner Demons”). Other characters such as Aunt May and Peter Parker’s girlfriend Mary Jane will also be involved in the game’s narrative.
There are three editions of the game: the standard edition (which is $59.99), the digital deluxe edition (which is $79.99) and the collector’s edition ($149.99). The digital deluxe edition will include the full game along with three new chapters, new villains, more costumes and new characters. This extra content is apparently part of Spider-Man’s post-launch DLC series titled “Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps”.
The collector’s edition has all the content of the digital deluxe edition along with a steelbook case, a mini artbook and a Spider-Man statue.
So, how excited are you for this upcoming Spider-Man game? Do you think it’ll surpass that Spider-Man 2 movie game that came out a while back or do you think that Insomniac’s game will turn out to be even better than that superhero game classic?
