Final Fantasy XV Future DLC Plans Revealed

DLC for the Open-World RPG Is Planned for Both This Year and 2019

There is still more downloadable content coming for Final Fantasy XV, Square Enix revealed during a recent PAX East panel. Character customization, a level editor and more are said to be in the works.

Also, new updates will add new bosses and challenges are also planned for the multiplayer component of the game, Comrades (which is also launching as a standalone game this summer). Even a crossover event with Shadow of the Tomb Raider was announced!

We’ve previously reported on Final Fantasy XV’s DLC roadmap but now we have even more details.

For example, the PC version of Final Fantasy XV will be getting mod tools this Spring and will be featured on Steam Workshop for the Steam version of the game.

There will also be an alternate ending to the game that’ll be featured in the DLC episodes that are scheduled to come out next year. There are four DLC episodes planned for 2019.

The planned character customization will allow players to replace the game’s protagonist, Noctis, with their own custom character. You’ll also be able to see the “ghosts” of custom characters created by other players.

The level editor is currently planned to be released this Fall and you’ll be able to create your own dungeons, quests and more.

Last month, the GOTY edition of Final Fantasy XV launched and we reviewed the PS4 version. Our review gave it a score of 80 out of 100 and our reviewer, Judi Azmand, criticized it for its steep price and pointed out that this edition of Final Fantasy XV didn’t have all the DLC since there’s more DLC planned for 2019.

“The new features shared by both the Royal Edition and Royal Pack is well worth the time and money of anyone who yearns for more quests, battles, and lore from Final Fantasy XV, and even more so for newcomers to the game,” Azmand wrote. “It does a great job bringing things back to full circle by answering lingering questions about the lore and connectivity related to the DLC.”

Final Fantasy XV is out now for the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
