Experience Fortnite Like Never Before…on Mobile Devices
It’s no secret that Fortnite is dominating the gaming industry, especially with the most recent announcement that it has officially become the most watched game on Twitch, dethroning both PUBG and League of Legends in the process. So how has Epic Games decided to celebrate their success? By bringing the popular title to mobile devices and tablets of course!
With the phenomenon of the battle royale genre sweeping across North America, but the rest of the world as well, it comes as no surprise that Epic Games is expanding its Fortnite audience to include those with mobile devices and tablets. And don’t worry about it overloading your phone as Epic Games says it will not be the whole game, but rather just the battle royale portion of it. And it would seem that for most players, this is enough.
In a press release about the big reveal Epic Games announced that the Fortnite Battle Royale will be the game 100-player game we know from the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. It is even set to include the “same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates.” So with the exception of touch-screen controls, it will be the exact same game, with one major addition: the ability to play on the go!
The company has noted that you will need to be updates to iOS 11, and have an iPhone 6S/6E, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or an iPad 2017 device. Though the Android version will be available later on, iOS users will be able to take them on in a fight to the death! And he best news of all? Both mobile versions will offer cross play with the PlayStation 4, PC, and Mac versions of the game, including the ability to maintain progression as well. “We believe this is the future of games. The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want.”
Over the next couple of months Epic Games will be letting small batches of players join the game as part of an invite event process that will open up starting this coming Monday, March 12th. You can get your name added to this list by registering on the game’s official website here. And if you’re lucky enough to receive invite codes, you’ll also be able to share them with your friends.
