Is This the End of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater?
Tony Hawk, the legendary skateboarder, has commented on the likelihood of more Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remasters — and well, it doesn’t look good for fans hoping for a revival of sorts.
The Birdman posted on Twitter recently, where he revealed that he is no longer working with Activision, while also pointing out that the publisher owns the franchise:
To anyone asking me to 'remaster" old games, or complaining about THPS servers being down: Activision owns the THPS license but I am no longer working with them. If I had the skills / authority to reboot servers or code games for newer systems on my own, I would be happy to…

It appears that he’s been receiving a lot of questions from fans as of late, so it’s good that he was able to clear the air. It is interesting he mentions that if he “had the skills/authority to reboot servers or code games for newer systems” that he would do it, which shows that he is, at least, open to the idea of more games, even if it is more remasters and not new entries.
In regards to his mention of servers going down, it has been reported that the online servers for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 were turned off sometime late last year without warning. For those that don’t know, many of THPS5’s core features rely heavily on active servers which, as you can surmise, makes the game less appealing than it already is.
An HD remaster called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD was released in 2012 for last-gen consoles. It featured levels from earlier titles in the series and sported a modified soundtrack.
Due to the popularity of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, Activision has said that they are open to the idea of more remasters, but whether it’s THPS-related remains to be seen.
