No Sequel for Rainbow Six Siege; Ubisoft’s Goal Is 100 Operators

More Content Will Be Added over 10 Years

Over time, the audience for Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege has grown tremendously. Considering the game’s never-ending content updates, that’s no surprise. Now, after the playerbase pushed past 27 million, the publisher/developer has affirmed that there will be no sequel. Instead, the goal is to build one continuous and robust experience.

According to Alexandre Remy, Ubisoft brand director, the goal is to push out 100 operators over the game’s lifespan. As you can imagine, that’s an ambitious amount; Rainbow Six Siege released back in 2015 and has yet to breach half that number. Furthermore, those operators will be stacked upon Seasons of new maps and in-game events. So, there’s no denying the value for players who come back.

“We’ve communicated already a couple of times about how the vision of the game is to bring it to 100 operators,” said Remy at the Rainbow Six Invitational 2018.

“Today we have 36 operators. Year 3 will bring eight new operators. [The goal of 100] is not only a symbol, but it’s a testament of the longevity that we want to put in the game. Again, we are claiming extremely loud here, there is no sequel planned, and we are here for the next 10 years, so expect more Rainbow Six in your life for quite some time.”

There you have it. Anyone who picks up Rainbow Six Siege will also pick up Ubisoft’s promise of more content and more support for the next several years. Speaking of which, starting March 6th, players can take part in the game’s limited-time event: Outbreak. Players shall have the opportunity to battle against aliens.

Recently, Ubisoft also announced that all versions of Rainbow Six Siege, with the exception of the Starter Edition, will come with all 20 Year One operators unlocked. Today, players have to spend in-game currency (Renown) or real-world money yo acquire new operators. On March 3rd, the first 20 and all their weapon attachments will be available at no cost.

Happy gaming.
