Fallout 3 Remake Mod for Fallout 4 Shows New Gameplay Footage

Revisit the Capital Wasteland with Current Gen Graphics!

The mod team behind Capital Wasteland: A Road to Liberty Project, a Fallout 3 remake mod for Fallout 4, released some new gameplay footage of a Fallout 3 story mission and a few environments in the mod this past Sunday. You can view the gameplay in the video below!

In the pre-alpha gameplay footage above, we see the protagonist, The Lone Wanderer, fight off feral ghouls and Super Mutants in the D.C. metro tunnels. Eventually The Lone Wanderer reaches the surface and finds himself in the middle of a battle between the Brotherhood of Steel and some more Super Mutants.

The Lone Wanderer ends up aiding the Brotherhood of Steel in house-to-house fighting against a group of Super Mutants before shooting at a gigantic Super Mutant called a “Behemoth” with a weapon that launches miniature nukes.

In the YouTube video’s description, the team requests the help of any 2D or 3D artists with experience in Autodesk Software and other programs in order for the mod to be completed faster.

The mod team plans to rebuild “the entire Capital Wasteland – complete with quests, dialogue, and all locations – into Fallout 4’s Creation Engine,” according to the mod’s description on the official website. Currently, the mod has no set release date.

According to the mod’s FAQ page, it also won’t be available on consoles due to the mod being “well past the limitations for Bethesda.Net modifications for consoles”. The mod also won’t have the settlements feature that appeared in Fallout 4 since the original Fallout 3 was “not created with settlements in mind and a lot of things would have to be reworked to accurately shove that feature in.” However, players should be able to use mods that allow them to create settlements in the mod itself.

So Fallout fans, does the footage released so far impress you? Are you interested in revisiting the Capital Wasteland with current gen graphics? Let us know in the comments!
