Crytek Has Revealed Their Closed Alpha for Hunt: Showdown Begins Early Next Year

Crytek Reveals Closed Alpha Release Date for Hunt: Showdown

Earlier this year, at E3, Crytek revealed their upcoming title Hunt: Showdown. The game takes an eerie approach to the battle royale genre, and soon you might just be able to get your hands on it. Crytek, the studio behind the Ryse and Crysis series, has just announced that they will be hosting a closed alpha early next year.

A few years ago, Crytek made a free-to-play third person shooter called Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age, however it disappeared before reaching a beta version. Now, over 3 years later, Hunt: Showdown seems to be a revived and reimagined version of Gilded Age. Crytek has just revealed that Hunt: Showdown will be available to play in a closed alpha in January 2018. If you’re looking to take part in the action, you can sign up on their official Twitter, or on their website here. You can check out the announcement on Twitter below.

If you haven’t heard much about Hunt: Showdown, it takes players to the swamps of Louisiana for some good old PvEvP gameplay. There are monsters to track down, with five different pairs working against each other to find them. If you defeat the target, you will receive a bounty, which the other four teams can hunt you for. Although dying will still allow you to progress, staying alive and winning a game will win you money and experience.

Hunt: Showdown is currently in development for PC, and will be heading to Early Access on Steam before it launches. You can find the Steam trailer below.
