Fans Are Furious With Forza Motorsport 7 VIP Membership and Leaving Horrible Reviews

Forza Motorsport 7 VIP Membership Leaving Fans Furious

Forza Motorsport 7 has finally arrived for those who pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of the racing game. While early critic reviews have been nothing short of amazing, averaging a 92/100 on Metacritic (6 reviews in), the game has encountered quite a bit of criticism with regards to the loot boxes and the VIP membership.

The official description of the VIP membership reports the following:

“Exclusive cars Mods Driver Gear and more await with Forza Motorsport 7 VIP membership! Forza Motorsport 7 VIP members receive exclusive VIP cars. VIPs will receive additional benefits including 100% CR bonus Mods VIP Driver Gear and more. Get your VIP membership today!”

After 60 fan reviews on Microsoft’s Store, the Forza 7 VIP bundle is sitting at an average of 1.3 stars out of 5. Why the horrible reviews? Because unlike previous Forza games where the VIP membership granted a permanent 2x boost to credits earned in any race, this time around the boost actually consists of limited use consumables that you can use for a mere 25 races.

This change was never discussed prior to release by Turn 10 and it cannot be discerned by the Forza Motorsport 7 VIP membership description, either. As a result, several users are voicing their outrage for this ‘disingenuous’ shift all over the Web. Check out a few of the bad reviews:

“Turn 10 decided to make more money with the VIP ripoff which will obviously stimulate users desires to complete microtransactions. The only credit boost is for 25 races, not forever like prior releases. I am an unhappy consumer.”

“I was a VIP member for FM5 and I remember getting 100% CR bonus for every race. Now it’s only limited? How can you scam people out of 25 dollars extra for something that has been an unlimited thing since VIP started. Change this immediately or I’m thinking of getting a refund and buying the original version back. Turn 10 needs to compensate for this “cell phone game” gimmick.”

“Complete bait and switch. Not worth it at all. First and last time I ever buy the ultra/deluxe or whatever they want to call the edition. Making VIP a limited consumable and NOT MAKING IT CLEAR IN THE DESCRIPTION make it obvious how little thought went into customer satisfaction. For a series that I have loved since Forza Motorsport 2, this hurts.”

Update:

Since the story broke, it appears Microsoft has updated the description on the Store. Still, the damage is done for those who have already purchased the VIP membership.

Forza Motorsport 7 will be out on October 3rd for everyone.
